heres an interesting question a friend of mine asked... you have $25,000 you
have to invest in 5 stocks, you can dollar cost avg
monthly/quarterly/yearly... but this portfolio has to last you 20 years.
what 5 stocks do you pick? you can't change holdings unless something is
bought out... This was my response...

BAC - Bank of America
TGT - Target
TM - Toyota
FE - First Energy
PG - Procter & Gamble

Interested in your thoughts and opinions...

I would go with MMM, GE, BAC, PG, & CL realizing that buy & hold forever is
stupid.

I would find whatever 5 stocks are going to be bot out w/in the year,
put it in those. It appears by the loose verbage that that would allow
you to null the buy and hold contract, so from there I'd go on to normal
trading.

First Energy is (IIRC) Akron, Ohio. Not a high growth area.

It's done well for me in the past and they can keep on adding 10% new
stores annually for the foreseeable future. Wal-Mart can't any more
(stored out), and Kmart can't afford to.

Not bad, although technically he seemed more interested in company
stocks, not ETFs.

I'd do something similar but add IWM or IJR, and dump DIA. It would
be a shame to miss the upside of small caps over a 20 year period and
you get similar and more broad based exposure to big caps through SPY
anyway.
