GAZA, June 2 (UPI) -- A radical Muslim group has issued a
death threat against women working at a Palestinian television
station, accusing them of violating Islamic teachings.
The threat, the first of its kind against female employees
of the official Palestinian Authority television station, was made
by the Righteous Swords of Islam, a group believed to have links
with al-Qaida, The Jerusalem Post reported Saturday.
The women on the receiving end of the death threat are
accused of dressing immodestly and were described as "disgraceful"
in a leaflet distributed by the shadowy group.
The same group has claimed responsibility for splashing acid
in the face of other young women who have been similarly accused of
"immoral behavior," the newspaper said.
